Every December Santa embarks,
On a reindeer-guided journey around the globe in the dark.
He delivers toys in his trusty red sleigh
From house to house before the light of Christmas day.
But what if there were no sleigh in which to arrive,
He'd jump in a car but which would he drive?

He'd need a vehicle with all the right gear
What would be on Santa's wish list this year?
To determine which will take Santa beyond the stars.

All-wheel drive to conquer terrain with glee,
Like on the VW Tiguan SE.

A vehicle with power and lots of "go,"
Can be found in the GTI, even if there's snow.

A vehicle with room for hauling elves with grace,
Like the VW Routan with Stow n' Go and cargo space

With an in-dash navigation system to guide his way
The Passat directs without delay

To deliver boats and ponies Santa will need to tow
Behind VW's Touareg, Ho Ho Ho!

To land on rooftops without a tip or roll
Maybe a Jetta with great control

One with heated seats keeping Santa toasty and warm
Like the Volkswagen CC cruising through every storm

But only one vehicle in all the land
Will make this Christmas fine and grand

To keep Santa singing while flying alone,
The Beetle's satellite radio offers carols in every time zone

With trimmings in leather and hardwoods throughout,
Santa rides in style without a doubt

But what color would he want as the winds whip to the right?
It's not hard to pick when it comes in Candy White.

New 60-second ad features the all-new 2012 Beetle, Volkswagen’s redesigned icon

Herndon, VA -  Volkswagen of America, Inc. announced today it will advertise during the Super Bowl® for the third consecutive year. Following the success of last year’s two 30- second spots, Volkswagen will premiere one 60-second spot at the beginning of the third quarter of Super Bowl XLVI.

The spot will feature the all-new Beetle, which arrived in dealerships in September. The 2012 Beetle was teased as a silhouette in last year’s advertisement, but the iconic redesign is now ready for its Super Bowl close-up.

Compact hybrid crossover SUV mixes style, performance, and efficiency

At the Tokyo Motor Show, Volkswagen is revealing the Cross Coupé, a concept SUV that looks towards the future. This all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid vehicle shows how Volkswagen designers could envision a crossover that’s part four-door coupe, part compact SUV. The design team, led by Walter de Silva and Klaus Bischoff, has created an intriguing study that impressively combines the best of the two worlds. Original, strong in character, and sculptural and dynamic, the Cross Coupé hints at the future of SUV design at Volkswagen.

The sporty Cross Coupé concept is based on Volkswagen’s new modular transverse matrix (MQB)—the first time a vehicle has been shown off this platform. The four-seater SUV is powered by two electric motors and a direct-injection turbocharged gasoline (TSI®) engine. The Cross Coupé can drive a distance of up to 25 miles purely on electric power.

The Golf TDI is recognized in the Alternative-Fuel category for the second consecutive year

Volkswagen announced that it received a Residual Value Award from ALG, the industry benchmark for residual values and depreciation data. The annual ALG Residual Value Awards recognize automakers' outstanding achievements in producing new vehicles that are predicted to retain the highest percentage of their original price after a conventional three-year period. Awards are given in 19 vehicle categories and also for the two brands with the highest overall predicted residual values among all mainstream and all luxury vehicles. This year’s awards are based on 2012 model year vehicles.

Volkswagen’s Golf TDI® Clean Diesel won top honors in ALG’s Alternative-Fuel vehicle category, marking the second consecutive year that the compact clean diesel-powered car has received this award.

“The ALG Residual Value Awards recognize the brands and individual vehicles that truly deliver quality and value to the American consumer,” said Frank Trivieri, vice president of sales operations, Volkswagen of America. “We’re honored to win the Alternative-Fuel award for the Golf TDI, and thrilled to receive it for two years in a row.”

ALG award winners are determined through careful study of the competition in each segment, historical vehicle performance, and industry trends. Vehicle quality, production levels relative to demand, and pricing and marketing strategies remain the key factors that affect ALG’s residual value forecasts.

“The Golf TDI Clean Diesel pairs fuel efficiency with an upscale interior for an engaging, economical ride,” said Raj Sundaram for ALG. “Minimal incentives and the hefty premium that diesel models historically command keep residuals high for a first-place finish the second year in a row.”
